Paragon Medical Receives Supplier Certification Award From DePuy Orthopaedics, Warsaw

Paragon Medical Receives Supplier Certification Award From DePuy Orthopaedics, Warsaw

(Pierceton, IN) - Paragon Medical's Case and Tray Division recently received the first ever Supplier Certification Award from DePuy Orthopaedics, Warsaw. The award, which was presented during a special recognition luncheon for the entire operations staff, recognizes suppliers for demonstrating exemplary quality systems and manufacturing practices, such that certain products can be placed on a "Ship-to- Stock" status. This status allows product to go directly from Paragon into the DePuy distribution system, bypassing receiving inspection. There are numerous benefits for DePuy when a supplier reaches certification status, including opportunities to save inspection and handling man-hours and warehouse space. For Paragon, receiving the "Ship-to-Stock" certification carries through to all DePuy franchises, worldwide.

Several members from DePuy Management were on hand to congratulate Paragon for reaching this major milestone. Pamela Orcutt, Supplier Quality Engineer, presented the award on behalf of the DePuy Orthopaedics Supplier Quality and Purchasing organizations. In her address to Paragon's employees she said, "Paragon can be proud of this accomplishment, which not only demonstrates excellence in case and tray manufacturing, but also for being the recipients of the 1st such award granted under this program." Orcutt specifically noted that Paragon was able to have input into the development of the program requirements, allowing them to gain the benefit of a fine-tooth assessment of their case and tray manufacturing procedures and practices, facilitating enhancement and improvement of what was already a well-documented and compliant system. Paragon was presented with a beautifully inscribed cut glass memento to display in their lobby as a reminder of their accomplishment.

Toby Buck Honored as 2006 Warsaw / Kosciusko County Man of the Year

Toby Buck honored as 2006 Warsaw / Kosciusko County Man of the Year
January 26, 2007

Toby Buck, Chairman & CEO of Paragon Medical, was named the 2006 Man of the Year during the Warsaw / Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce 95th annual membership and dinner meeting held Thursday evening, January 25, 2007 at the 2517 Restaurant in Warsaw.

The Times-Union and WRSW Radio have sponsored the Man of the Year Award since 1959. In order to be a recipient of the award, you must first be nominated by someone within the community and then are judged on the following selection criteria:

  • Demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in business.
  • Provides valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community.
  • Assists others in reaching their full leadership potential.
  • Has made positive impact on the quality of life in Kosciusko County.

Although he didn't realize it at the time, Toby was running against several other well deserving candidates, but was ultimately selected to receive the award.

Getting Toby to attend the dinner without telling him why was quite a feat but the team (to remain nameless) succeeded. Toby thought he was going to the dinner in support of what he believed was an "award honoring Donna Fisher for community service." He was expecting Donna to be surprised, but the surprise was on him, as Donna was involved in the scheme the whole time.

Close friends were added to the hundreds of community leaders and volunteers that were in attendance. To Toby's great pleasure, several members of his family were on hand to see him receive the award including his wife Donna, son Joshua and daughter-in-law Christina from Louisiana.
